Usually, we jump into fall without much thought, as we trade in tanning weather for pumpkin spice. However, this year’s transition from summer to fall may mean much more to some of us. After over a year filled with loss, injustice, and anxiety, the start of this fall marks a transition filled with hope and introspection. While there are some things that we may not be able to easily change, we always have the power to look within ourselves to foster change. We hope that with the crisp air of fall, we may move forward. As the leaves change colors and eventually detach from their branches, we too can detach from the negative feelings we have been facing. Fall is a time of healing and opportunity for re-growth.
5 tips on how to feel cozy with your inner self this fall:
- Embrace the new season. Yes, that means you should buy that fall candle (just not the whole aisle) from TJ Maxx and that pumpkin spice latte from your local craft coffee shop. If you are not a coffee drinker, Yogi’s Vanilla Spice Perfect Energy tea is also amazing. Make sure you mindfully enjoy the simple things, because these simple moments of gratitude can set your entire mood for the day.
- Cozy up with a productive book. Have you ever heard someone say: “This book changed my life!” Well, I used to think it was an exaggeration until I experienced it for myself. Everyone has certain things they struggle with deep down, and the amazing thing is that there are books written by experts who can help you to self-improve. As a Type A personality, I sometimes struggle with positive thinking and mindfulness. When I read Good Vibes, Good Life by Vex King, it was one of those life-changing reads. Decide what you want to work on and then find a book to read. I find that highlighting as I read helps me to really absorb the information.
- Get outside. It is far too easy to blame the cold weather and watch Netflix reruns over and over once the season changes. Go apple picking, go to a haunted house, go hiking. Outdoor activities do not end when summer does.
- Do something good for your body every day. Whether it is a morning yoga session or choosing a smoothie over cold weather comfort food, take care of your body past swimsuit season. A strong body supports a strong mind.
- Take time to reflect on your happiness. Is there anything that you can do to improve it, even something small? If there is, write it down as a goal. When you manifest your goals and put them out into the universe, they become a reality.
