I am writing to you from solitude including sweatpants, tissues, multiple blankets, and the Gilmore Girls to keep me company. Unfortunately, Covid-19 has also been keeping me company. After three years, I tested positive for it and can attest that it is not fun. Each day has brought a new, strange symptom as I have tried to rest and heal. In my efforts to feel healthy again as quickly as possible, I have placed a large focus on my diet which has inspired this article. Through my diet, I have tried to consume anti inflammatory foods which will allow my body to heal and recover.
While anti inflammatory foods can help your body to heal, it is also important to prioritize rest. I tried to take my own advice for self-care this week, which is why I am writing to you a week later than usual. It wasn’t easy to let go of missing a post – I truly love writing to you all! But, it was necessary to put things in perspective and prioritize my own wellness and self-care.
So, resulting from my own personal need for a diet filled with anti inflammatory foods, here are 4 of the best anti inflammatory foods that helped my body heal!
1. Guacamole
Anyone who really knows me knows that I am obsessed with guacamole. It is good and good for you! Avocados, onions, and lemons are all anti inflammatory. They are also the 3 main ingredients that I use to make my guac. Just make sure whatever you use for dipping isn’t going to counter the anti inflammatory properties.
2. Berries
Berries are known for their high levels of antioxidants, which have anti inflammatory properties. Whether you enjoy a cup of fresh berries or prefer to drink them in a frozen fruit smoothie, berries will help combat inflammation within your body.
3. Leafy Greens
Leafy greens contain vitamins and nutrients that help fight inflammation, including Vitamin A, D, E, K, and Omega-3 fatty acids. When selecting your leafy greens, it is best to go for those richer in color as they tend to be more nutrient-packed.
4. Salmon
Salmon is known for many superpowers, from being labeled as brain food to a lean protein to its anti inflammatory properties. While salmon may not be the most comforting food if you are sick, it is packed with nutrition and fatty omega-3s which will help fight inflammation.
