While movie marathons in candle-lit rooms are cozy, there are so many outdoor things to do in fall, and it is important for your body to get the fresh air! Keep reading for a few ideas on how to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather outdoors.
1. Go to a football game. Football is the American fall tradition for all ages! Whether you are going to see a kids, high school, college, or NFL game, watching a game of football will light up your competitive spirit. Make sure to bring layers to keep warm if you go to a nighttime game past September!
2. Get spooky. There are so many outdoor activities related to Halloween. From hay rides to pumpkin picking to haunted houses and light shows, you will not run out of October weekend activities!
3. Go to an amusement park. There are so many benefits to going to an amusement park in the fall. Less sunscreen (you should still always apply to your face), shorter lines, and less sweat. Plus, going on rides gives you a rush of dopamine, which is the happy hormone that makes you feel rewarded and satisfied.
4. Apple picking. If you don’t go apple picking in the fall, you are missing out! There is something so exciting about walking through the aisles of trees and being able to choose any apple you like. If you want to make an apple pie after with your freshly picked apples, choosing a variety of different kinds and colors is recommended for the best flavor!
5. Go hiking. Put on your hiking boots or sneakers and get on the trails. Choose a path that fits your preferred difficulty level so that you can enjoy the views and feel comfort with nature.
6. Have a bonfire. Invite your friends or family over and ring in fall with a bonfire! Play some music, roast some marshmallows, and bring out some drinks if you like. If you don’t have a fire pit, there are relatively inexpensive but nice looking options for purchase like this Mainstays Owen Park 28 inch Round Wood Burning Fire Pit from Walmart.
7. Go to a vineyard. Who said you have to go to Napa Valley or Martha’s Vineyard to enjoy a day at the winery? Depending on where you live, there are likely local options for you to choose from, and it feels amazing to support small businesses. If your nearest vineyard is a couple of hours away – book a B&B, roll the windows down, and enjoy a mini fall road trip. Going to the vineyard is one of my favorite activities when I am in need of girl time.
8. Go camping. Fall weather is perfect for camping. You are not too hot, but it is also cool enough to snuggle under a blanket and sleep comfortably. If completely disconnecting from your everyday amenities does not sound relaxing to you, try glamping instead! As a girl who may be called high maintenance from time to time, this is definitely my preferred option.
